BANKSY - Il terrorista dell'arte

US Marine graffiti crew hits up Hyde Park

This past week, the United States Marine Corps invaded Boston. Or, more accurately, they were invited into the community by Mayor Tom Menino to “showcase military equipment displays, perform community outreach projects, and honor local Marines during Marine Week Boston.”
At least that’s what the press release said. According to anti-war activists, however, Marine Week is a thinly veiled recruitment prop, and worse, one that was partially funded by taxpayers in that the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) supplied paint for a 375-square-foot “Community, Country, Corps” mural that Marines tagged in Hyde Park (two blocks from the mayor’s house). Though the value of the supplies in question is minimal, some say the value of highly visible political propaganda is significantly higher.
“I object to this without question,” says Greater Boston Stop the Wars Coalition co-founder John Harris. “Promoting the Marines in a time when millions of people are in opposition to the never-ending occupation is not appropriate, and certainly I don’t think that it should be paid for by the people of this city.”

Graffiti Murals by El Mac

Since beginning to paint graffiti in the mid-90s as “The Mac,” his murals have become recognized landmarks in cities across the globe. These pieces, often photorealistic depictions of everyday people and ethereal women, utilize distinctive brushwork and shading patterns that focus on the human face and form. His artwork combines classic art themes and techniques with inspiration from Mexican and Chicano culture of the Southwest, pin-up art, and religious imagery. Mac perceives his own work as “the result of a life devoted to art.”

Green Lable Art – Limited Edition

Dr. Revolt began his practice in 1977 as an original member of the historic New York City graffiti crew, The Rolling Thunder Writers (RTW).  Dr. Revolt became known for doing both tags and elaborate, colorful murals with psychedelic and comic-art influence on the Broadway No. 1 subway line. His artwork has been featured in classic hip-hop films such as “Wild Style” and “Style Wars”. These days, NYC subways are graf free – but Revolt shows his work internationally, in art scenes as diverse as Baltimore and Paris. He was approached to participate in this project as Dew’s aluminum bottle provided the perfect canvas for his colorful expressions.

“Metra seems to be one of my favorites of the design work that I have done so far. Something about this style seems to really work as a designed object. I will be doing a lot more work with graffiti in nature and trying to put graffiti in places where it doesn’t belong”

“Symptoms – Latest work that follows on from Phoenix-01. Did the original design while waiting for a train.
I wasn’t happy with the first composite work (photoshop crashed and lost the PSD) so this is the second attempt.
The photo is of the sculptures in Reddacliff Place, outside Brisbane Square by Donna Marcus (“steam”). I really these futuristic things stuck right in the middle of the city”http://graffity-bomber.blogspot.com/
